First of all thanks a lot for taking o...Dear Chris,
First of all thanks a lot for taking out the time to read and then comment.Yes,I guess all of us would mostly vouch for the fact that we have always had a great experience when traveling in a Meru Cab.
The stike was not mentioned officially, but more than 50% of the cabs operating in Mumbai went off the roads in support to the drivers who had been laid off.Like I mentioned in my post, some of the drivers were unhappy with the work conditions and the sharing of revenue issue and hence floated a Union with Mumbai's very own Shiv Sena.I cannot comment on whether Meru treats its drivers fairly or no,but there were definitely some issues between the drivers and the company, which ultimately resulted in keeping cabs off the road on day it hurt most..In the end it was the common commuter who had to face all the wrath.
Now the motormen have called off their strike and the Meru management has assured it will look into the grievances. I am just hoping that the drivers of Meru are a happy lot so that as a commuter I do not have to face any difficulty again.
P.S. On a few occasions when I chatted up with these drivers, some of them told me about unfair revenue sharing practices and long working hours (18-20hours driving at a stretch). Maybe this tension was building up for a long time now.Debolina Raja https://www.blogger.com/profile/10195496661712239247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4920859353559954192.post-75055055408056021592010-05-06T10:46:02.960+05:302010-05-06T10:46:02.960+05:30Well Meru Cabs were not really on strike however s...Well Meru Cabs were not really on strike however services were disrupted, by a minority of agitated drivers, who tried to instigate and force other Meru cab drivers who have no issues with the working model, and are satisfied with their earnings, to stop services, causing a menace and adding to the woes of commuters on a day when the life line of Mumbai the local trains went off track.

I completely agree with you I personally have had great experiences whenever I have used a Meru cab. Meru cabs have been a life saver, when I have had to travel alone late nights, when I have been exhausted and cannot even think of travelling by any public transport.Meru has always come to the rescue.

It is good that the Meru management are particular about the quality of service they provide to their customers. It is good to know that the management takes action, with regard to drivers who are not up to the mark in delivering satisfactory service to the customers.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03824741381203398613noreply@blogger.com
